Facilities Management Is Changing. Site Support Must Change With It.

Last week, I travelled from Leicester to London for Facilities & Estates Management Live at the Business Design Centre.

An early train, wet London weather and a day of valuable conversations with people working across the facilities management industry.

One thing stood out: the expectations placed on site-support contractors are changing.

Facilities managers don't just need someone to turn up and complete a job. They need confidence that the work has been completed properly, on time and with evidence.

Whether it's cleaning construction welfare facilities, supporting solar farm developments, maintaining warehouses or managing site demobilisation, the challenge is often the same.

How do you maintain visibility and accountability across multiple sites?

One of the interesting discussions at the event was around the growing role of technology and AI in facilities management.

At Fresh Joy, this is something we are already embracing through digital reporting, photographic evidence, attendance tracking and structured site checklists.

But technology alone isn't the answer.

Reliable people, clear communication and consistent delivery remain the foundation of good site support.

My biggest takeaway from London was simple: the future belongs to contractors who combine dependable service with greater transparency.
